Chainsaw

Instrsrv.exe installs and removes system services, Srvany.exe allows any Windows application to run as a service. You can download both files here.

This zip includes three files. You need srvany.exe and instsrv.exe to install the services and also srvany.rtf which documents everything you can do with the program.

Make sure the Services Manager is closed while running the DOS commands.

1. You will need to put these files in a directory called srvany. At a MS-DOS command prompt, type the following command:

<path>\srvany\INSTSRV.EXE "Chainsaw" <path>\srvany\SRVANY.EXE

With this same program you can also remove the service. Just run this command from command prompt.

<path>\srvany\INSTSRV.EXE "Chainsaw" REMOVE

2. Using notepad create a .REG file with the following contentes (replace the path to Chainsaw with yours if it's different) and merge it using regedit:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Chainsaw\Parameters]
"Application"="\"c:\\Program Files\\Pmcc\\Chainsaw\\Chainsaw.exe\" -hidden"

3. Create a file named Pmcc.local and place it in Chainsaw folder. This file will force the bot to read/save settings on this folder.

To import your previous settings move the files contained in C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Pmcc\Chainsaw\ to this folder.

4. Now you can start the service from the Service Manager.
